1. Continuous power (rated power)


Continuous, long -term or RMS (valid value) power (the time of test signal lasts for more than 1 hour), it is also called continuous pink noise power (when using pink noise), long -term sine wave frequency sweeping power ), The final measurement point gives the lowest safety power value.


2. Program power


Program or music power (test signals with music characteristics, about 1 second), it is also known as continuous program power.


3. Peak power


The peak or instantaneous power (the test signal is short -term, less than 0.1 seconds), which gives the highest power value, which is 6DB (four times the rated power) than the continuous/long -term/RMS power.

3. Need coefficient: The total power calculated can be multiplied by a need for the need, because the music signal is not continuous, so the audio system is not a constant consumption load for the power supply. For example: A night -range project uses 20 TDs 8 ohm 900W two -channel power amplifiers. How much does it need to provide electricity?


Solution: 900 × 2 × 20 = 36000 (watt), 36000 ÷ 0.9 = 40000 (watt), 40000 × 0.8 = 32000 (watt), 32000 ÷ 1000 = 32 (kW). The electricity consumption is 32kW.
